Families of Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army, Navy and Air) hold fourth tree-planting ceremony

Families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army, Navy and Air) held the fourth tree-planting ceremony for 2018 today to conserve the natural environment of Yezin Dam, participated by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who also gave a speech. The annual rainy season tree planting ceremony began in 2011.

Also present at the ceremony were the Senior General’s wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Union Minister Lt-Gen Kyaw Swe and wife, Union Minister Lt-Gen Sein Win and wife, Union Minister Lt-Gen Ye Aung and wife, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy, and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and wife, the Commander-in-Chief (Air) and wife, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and wife, officer trainees of the National Defence College-NDC and officers, other ranks and families of the respective offices and departments of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army, Navy and Air).

In his address, the Senior General said it is the fourth and the final tree-planting ceremony of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army) and all the military command headquarters of the present year. Tree planting gives shade and assists the climate. The trees planted today will benefit the posterity. Trees must be planted systematically for their further growth as tree-planting needs time, manpower and financial power. Collective force produces solidarity and enhances durability. The collective force of the Tatmadaw members and their families and the entire people can face whatever situation. Hence, the collective tree-planting ceremony is held in a harmonious way. Collective force should be applied in any assigned task. Furthermore, efforts must be made for the flourishing trees in the environment.

The Senior General and wife led the ceremony by planting a Yadana Teak sapling, followed by the planting of teak and Mahawgany saplings at the respective places by the Vice-Senior General and wife, the Union Ministers and their wives, the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy, and Air) and wife, the senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives and officials, other ranks and families attending the ceremony.

Next, the Senior General and party encouraged the officers, other ranks and their families collectively growing trees. At today’s ceremony, 1,219 teak saplings and 3,581 Mahawgani saplings totaling 4,800 saplings were grown.

For the protection of the environment and ecosystem of in the areas of Yezin Dam, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) has planted a total of 137,063 valuable trees, perennial crops, shady trees and wind-breaks from 2011 to the fourth tree-planting ceremony in 2018.

Similarly, various military commands held the fourth monsoon tree-planting ceremonies today in which officers, other ranks and families participated. Nay Pyi Taw Command grew 9,235 saplings; Northern Command 10,570 saplings; North East Command 8,017 saplings; Eastern Command 11,700 saplings; Central East Command 18,275 saplings, Triangle Region Command 60,614 saplings; South East Command 42,628 saplings; Coastal Region Command 19,872 saplings; Yangon Command 14,353 saplings, South West Command 6,260 saplings; Western Command 5,906 sapling, North West Command 23,940 saplings, Central Command 34,534 saplings and Southern Command 23,982 saplings totalling 289,886.

All those command headquarters across the country have grown 11,568,752 valuable trees, perennial crops, shady trees and windbreaks from 2011 to date.
