Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation led by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visits significant places in Manila, the Philippines

The Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, currently in Manila, the Philippines, to attend the 14th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Informal Meeting (14th ACDFIM), visited significant places in Manila at 9.30 am local standard time yesterday.

First, the Senior General, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Lt-Gen Soe Htut of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and members of the Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation, visited Rizal Park where officials conducted them round the park.

Rizal Park, a monument to honour the Philippine Patriotic Hero Dr. Jose Rizal, is a recreation centre for tourists.

Then, the Senior General and wife and delegation members arrived at Malacañang Museum where they view round commemorative objects related to the Philippine Presidents in the museum and were conducted round by officials.

Malacañang Museum is opened at about 175-year renovated building. In the time of former Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos, the building was renovated by an architect from 1978 to 1979. The commemorative objects related to the Philippine Presidents are showcased in the museum.

Afterwards, the Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation led by the Senior General visited ancient Fort Santiago in Intramuro, the ancient city of the Philippines, and they were conducted round by an official.

Ancient Fort Santiago was a residence of Rajan Sulayman, a ruler of the Kingdom of Maynila in 1571. Philippine Patriotic Hero Dr. Jose Rizal was jailed in the fort before killing him.
