Senior General Min Aung Hlaing delivers an address at the meeting (7/2015)
of Tatmadaw Central Steering Organizing Committee

Nay Pyi Taw November 11

General election a fine image of the country was successfully held on 8 November. Over 1000 foreign observers and over 9000 local observers totaling more than 10000 and diplomats witnessed the free and fair election in the whole country including at the military unit polling stations. Tatmadawmen, families and dependents made correct choice with vision casting their votes freely. Voters cast votes freely at other stations. Such is an honorable accomplishment, declared Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the meeting (7/2015) of Tatmadaw Central Steering Organizing Committee held at Office of the Commanderin- Chief (Army) this afternoon.

Also present were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, central committee members, and Tatmadaw Organizing Committee members.

In his opening speech, the Senior General also said discipline and obedience are the work of good soldiers and because of these two factors Tatmadaw has been firm and durable. By observing the 60 codes of conducts including the codes of conduct concerning with the people, superiors, subordinates, individuals, other soldiers, the enemy Tatmadaw will become an excellent institution. Tatmadaw will do what is best in cooperation with the new government during the post-election period. Public trust can be won through correct deeds. There could be some flaws in voting at the military unit polling stations and they were just honest mistakes. Advanced voting was done correctly in accord with the rules. If any faults are found action will be taken against persons responsible for wrongdoing in accord with the rules. The first multiparty general election in 2010 was to change from centralized system to democracy. The second or the present is for the second term of democracy. Some representatives chosen by the people in the first general election could not serve the people as expected. As the number of second general election candidates is greater there may be weakness in examining work. It is hoped that the chosen person can do the job as expected. Necessary procedures must be carried out within the scope of law in the general election for the second term. It is required to ensure mental and physical peace for the people. The rule of law and serenity can give mental happiness, and food, clothing and shelter and good business can provide physical happiness. Tatmadaw will continue to strength the multiparty democracy system.

Tatmadaw will serve any assigned duty of the state in addition to its main duties involving national defence, protecting the people, safeguarding Our Three Main National Causes and constitution, national unity, reaching eternal peace, and development. The current agriculture and livestock breeding activities of the Tatmadaw is for commodity prices stability, public welfare, and helping boost the national production. It will continue this business. Additionally the four major tasks for building a standard army will continue without losing any momentum. We all have the duty to maintain all those tasks as per the 12 fine traditions whichever government is in power. Superiors should give correct supervision and provide the subordinates with knowledge. As unity within the military is of vital importance, the entire Tatmadaw must do its best with unity without making any discrimination against army, navy, air force and supporting troops.
