Battalions, units of Kyigon station inspected, ceremony to provide aids for flood victims held, Tatmadaw members, families of Falam, Tiddim encouraged

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commander- in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Thura Thet Swe, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Khin Aung Myint, senior military officials of the office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), the North-West Command commander, and senior military officials of Kyigon station, inspected the situation of battalions and units that faced floods at 8 am today.

The Senior General and party observed the silt layers left behind by the floods at Nyaungpintha ward, Pinlong ward, Kalay-Kalaywa road and surrounding areas. They also gave words of encouragement to Tatmadawmen of local battalions and units removing silt from Kalay- Kalaywa road. Because of swollen Myinttha river, the road was under 20 feet of water. The Tatmadawmen were carrying the silt away from the road to restore smooth transport for the public.

At Kyigon station, they inspected flooded battalions and units, the condition of floods, the silt layers left behind by the floods, moving of families from flood-hit quarters, food and shelter conditions. They cordially greeted the families and provided them with foodstuff.

They paid obeisance to Yayhsan Kyun Pagoda on Yazagiri hill near of Kyigon village. The Senior General and wife donated cash for the pagoda.

They together with Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Thar Aye, departmental personnel, well-wishers and locals attended the ceremony to present relief aids to flood victims of Kalay area held at Kalay station hall at 10 am.

The Senior General said, many parts of the world are facing natural disasters triggered by climate change. Although natural disasters cannot be inescapable, preventive measures should be taken to the most possible degree in advance. We are touring Kalay region and Chin State on the mission of helping them as they faced floods and landslides due to abnormal heavy rains. The government and the Tatmadaw are carrying our relief and rehabilitation work to the beast of their ability. The government is arranging to provide assistance during the six-month rehabilitation 

period. The Tatmadaw will also take part in the job with all the available manpower and equipment including aircraft and helicopters and with all-out efforts. The current task is to clear away silt, branches and debris. The Tatmadaw is using its manpower in this job and providing more pumps and generators. Locals should also make collective efforts in undertaking their own portion of the task. Furthermore, combined efforts should be made in providing healthcare services including clean water supply.

The chief minister and an official explained current relief measures.

The Senior General presented household goods; Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, cloths;the Commander-in-Chief (Navy), dried noodles; the Commander- in-Chief (Air), eggs; and 4TV families, aid boxes; for the victims at relief camps. The Senior General and party cordially greeted those present.

On arrival at Falam in Chin State, they were welcomed by local authorities, Amyotha Hluttaw member, and departmental personnel.

At the local battalion hall, they met with Tatmadaw members and families. The Senior General explained the provision of food, clothing, shelter, transport and education promotion undertakings for them. They should have natural disaster awareness and take preparatory preventive measure while stockpiling water, rations, helping one another through combined forces, valuing their life as servicemen, exerting greater efforts in discharging duties and firmly accepting their institution as the one always serving the interest of the nation.

Afterwards, the Senior General presented eggs, cakes and other foodstuff they had carried with helicopters. His wife also presented cash assistance to maternal and child welfare association. The Senior General and party cordially greeted Tatmadaw members and families.

After the meeting they looked around Falam.

At the local battalion hall in Tiddim, the Senior General addressed the Tatmadaw members and families, explaining the clothing, shelter, health and education promotion activities. Efforts should be made for the Tatmadaw to become a force reliable for the people and trustworthy for the country by enhancing the capabilities from the individuals to the units.

The Senior General and party presented supplies to them and his wife cash to maternal and child welfare association.
