Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win visited Kongyan, Nyankwom and Laukkai stations in Shan State (North) and met with offi cers, other ranks and families of local units in the afternoon and evening today.

The Vice-Senior General, accompanied by wife Daw Than Than Nwe, senior military offi cers of the Offi ce of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, the commander of North-East Command and senior military officers, officers, other ranks and families of local units attended the meetings.

At the meetings, the Vice-Senior General said he came to meet and honour officers, other ranks and wives of soldiers, dutifull servicing their duties at the risk of their lives and look into the requirements in person.

The Vice-Senior General then dealt with matters relating to the security of battalions, stations and regions, to solidify internal unity alongside the strengthening of external unity station wise, to successfully raise unit-owned and manageable farms to cope with the higher commodity prices in the regions lying near the border. The Vice-Senior General urged all soldiers and their wives to stay away from narcotic drugs and to cooperate with the respective region governments, security forces and the people in combating the drugs.

Afterwards, the Vice-Senior General cordially looked into the requirements in connection with the welfare of offi cers, other ranks and families.

After the meetings, the Vice-Senior General presented foodstuff for soldiers and families of the respective units and battalions through the offi cials. Lt-Gen Than Tun Oo and Lt-Gen Aung Kyaw Zaw also presented books of knowledge and artistic categories, foodstuff and sports equipment.

The Vice-Senior General and party cordially met with offi cers, other ranks and families of local units.

They also looked around the stations in a motorcade.
