KIA insurgents arrived at Zanan iron-frame bailey bridge built on the Sininkha Creek at 111th-milepost of Myitkyina-Sumprabum- Putao road section near Sumprabum Town, Kachin State at about 8 am today and destroyed the 20-foot motor road section of the approach road and the bridge with the use of backhoe owned by Manpyi Tagun Company which constructs the bridge, torched backhoe, three stonecrusher machines and one generator, and pushed one mixer and one vibrator into the creek. They then ordered the workers to immediately leave there and went back to Sumprabum.

Similarly, KIA insurgents, who have already arrived in advance at No 1/110 iron-frame bailey about one mile distance from Zanan bridge, stopped the crane truck which was ridden by three staff of Shweli Hydropower Project including U Myo Thiha Tun at about 10.45 am today and seized a mobile phone of U Myo Thiha Tun, opened fire at the wheel of the crane truck with the use of small weapons and torched it. They then went back to Sumprabum.

KIA insurgents sent a threat letter to the road and bridge construction groups on 27 January, 2017, asking to stop the operation of tasks. They carried out the destructive acts as the road and bridge construction groups did not follow it.

The Tatmadaw columns are conducting the area clearance operations in nearby areas of those places.
