Senior General Min Aung Hlaing holds talks with Ambassador of the United States of America to Myanmar H.E.Mr. Scot Marciel.

Everything must be done in a peaceful manner if we really want peace and pursue the ongoing path to multi-party democracy, which is the essence of democracy. When exercising democracy, any country has to end armed conflicts and initiate political dialogue. We believe that the road to peace will be smooth by giving a guarantee of what kinds of things should be done, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing as he met Ambassador of the United States of America to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Scot Marciel at Bayintnaung Parlour here at 3.30 pm yesterday.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and Lt-Gen Soe Htut of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The US Ambassador was accompanied by Military Attaché Colonel James McAden and officials.
The ambassador on his part said the history of Myanmar’s armed conflict was long as well as involved many organizations.The capability to achieve success in the peace process must be described as the victory over the most difficult war in the world. He then asked about the condition of the discussions with leaders of some ethnic armed groups and any opportunity for all stakeholders to participate in the Union Peace Conference.
With regard to discussions and questions, the Senior General said that a great expectation is made for forthcoming Union Peace Conference. The Tatmadaw will carry out the tasks with positive attitude. There are many ways and opportunities for emphasizing the ethnic affairs in political trend.The Tatmadaw has been focusing on ending of battles and ceasing of armed conflicts for restoring peace,not for performing politics. The Senior General expressed ending of armed confl ict is the most desire of the Tatmadaw. The Senior General also explained necessity for signing of the NCA for enabling ethnic armed organizations to have official talks on political platform,occurrences of battles in some places due to breaking pledges,different stands and activities of some ethnic armed organizations from desires of the government and the Tatmadaw, and needs of coordination.
Then, they frankly exchanged views on conducting investigations related to the military affairs over accusations of actual events and violation of human rights regarding the issue of Rakhine State, and promotion of bilateral relations between the two armed forces between Myanmar and the United States of America.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the US Ambassador posed for documentary photo together with delegation members.
