Vice-Senior General Soe Win holds talks about peace processes with Swiss Ambassador

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in- Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win received Ambassador of Switzerland to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Paul R. Seger at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa in Nay Pyi Taw at 2 pm yesterday.

Present at the call together with Vice-Senior General Soe Win were senior military officers from the office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).The Swiss Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Paul R. Seger was accompanied by officials.

At the meeting, Vice-Senior General Soe Win clarified efforts of the government, the Tatmadaw and border guard police to carry out peace and stability under the law with regard to the violent attacks which occurred in northern Rakhine State, situations on propaganda of misinformation and fabricated news over the Tatmadaw and security troops, combing the areas in Kachin State and northeastern part of Shan State by the Tatmadaw columns due to inappropriate movements of KIA/ TNLA/MNDAA/AA insurgents who committed shooting, attacking and killing innocent people without any reason, exploded, destroyed and blocked the communication routes, set public-owned vehicles on fire, attacked military posts and convoys of security troops and stationed their posts beyond the demarcated areas, activities of the Tatmadaw under the points of Geneva Convention, participation in humanitarian matters under the rules and regulations, taking deterrent action against the law breakers, and releasing information on time for enabling the people and international community to know these incidents.

Then, they cordially exchanged views on keen participation of the government, the Tatmadaw, armed ethnic groups and the people in prevailing eternal peace, and assistance of Switzerland in peacemaking processes.

After the meeting, the Vice-Senior General and the Swiss Ambassador posed for documentary photo together with delegation members.
