Buddha Pujaniya Festival of the Mandalay’s famed Maha Muni Buddha Image is planned to take place in Mandalay City on a grand scale, according to the Pagoda Board of Trustees.
“Magic shows, circus show and boxing contest will include in this year’s event,” said U Than Lwin, a member of the Pagoda Board of Trustees, adding that a famous dance troupe orgnaised by Tin Maung San Min Win, the main performer of the troupe, and other two Anyaint troupes will perform traditional songs and dances at the 10-day festival.
The Buddha Pujaniya festival is scheduled to be held starting from the 14th waxing day of Tabodwe to 8th waning day of the same month.
The event organizers plan to donate Htamane, famous seasonal food of Myanmar people, to all participants in the event each day, with plans to offer day meal and rice to 1,000 local monks on the closing day of the event.
A big day meal will also be donated to the Maha Muni Buddha Image on the fullmoon day of Tabodwe.
