Combined forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) launched two artillery attacks against Kutkai at about 6:40 am yesterday, with a mortar
exploding 300 meters west of the Oriental Toll Gate. There were no reports of casualties or damages, according to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.
Local troops returned fire, causing the group to retreat, it is learnt.
At about 7:45 pm on Tuesday, nearly 30 KIA troops attacked the Mongkoe outpost. Government troops responded with artillery attacks and the armed group retreated.
Tatmataw troops pursued the fleeing KIA/TNLA group and cleared the area.
