General Fang Fenghui member of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China and Chief of Joint Staff of the People’ Liberation Army accorded a guard-of-honour welcome to Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who is on a goodwill visit to the country at his invitation at 3.30 pm local standard time yesterday.
On arrival at Ba Yi Hall the venue of the welcoming ceremony, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing was welcomed by General Fang Fenghui, followed by the presentation of the their senior military officers attending the ceremony in turn. The Senior General and the Chinese General took the salute of the Guard of Honour, and inspected it.
Later, the two held a separate meeting. Afterwards, the Senior General cordially met and greeted the group led by General Fang Fenghui.
At the meeting, the Senior General said that Myanmar and China were born of same tribe, and the ethnics residing in border region of the two nations are the same. Both countries have longlasting relationship histories and have been relating to the various arenas. The two countries need to further strengthen relations as brother countries based on the nature of neighbouring countries sharing more than 2,000 kilometres long border with each other and the deeply strategic partnership relations. Then, the Senior General explained reform processes of Myanmar in line with the people’s desire, and coordination for ending long-lasting armed conflicts in order to restore peace and stability which is basic need of the nation.
The Chief of Joint Staff of the People’s Liberation Army of China explained the long-lasting deeply friendly relations between peoples of the two nations, further cementing friendly ties based on exchange of goodwill visits of present heads of State and Tatmadaw, and close relationship to promote cooperation due to good prospects.
Afterward, both sides cordially exchanged views on the exchanges of goodwill visits between leaders of the armed forces of the two countries, strategic discussions and coordination, peace and stability of border region, relations and cooperation in sports, culture and medical education sectors, training and courses.
After the call, General Fang Fenghui, Chief of Joint Staff of People's Liberation Army (PLA) hosted a dinner to the Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation. At the dinner, General Fang Fenghui extended greetings. The Senior General spoke words of thanks for a warm and hospitable welcome and fruitful discussions. Afterwards, the Senior General had a dinner together with attendees.
At the dinner, the PLA’s musical troupe entertained the guests with songs.
After the dinner, the Senior General and General Fang Fenghui exchanged gifts and posed for documentary photo together with the attendees.
