Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives special envoy of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Md Shahidul Haque

The historically fine relations between Myanmar and Bangladesh have been maintained. Although there are some difficulties in the relations, they can be solved through bilateral negotiations. As the two countries are BIMSTEC member states as well as neighbours, bilateral relations can be cemented through constructive measures as good neighbours. Peoples, the relevant departments and officials of both countries should know the history and prevailing conditions of their own nations. Mutual understanding and the recognition of the reality is of vital importance.It is believed that bilaterally positive endeavours will be much beneficial to the cordial relations between the two countries, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at his meeting with a delegation led by Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh H.E. Mr. Md Shahidul Haque at Bayintnaung Parlour, here, at 1 pm yesterday.
At the meeting the special envoy said Myanmar and Bangladesh are two neighbours with fine history. Currently, efforts are being made for the further improvement of relations between the two countries, and the military relations between them is also good. Security cooperation and defence cooperation are of vital importance for the relations between the two countries.
Both sides then cordially exchanged views on the struggles made by the two countries amidst the evil colonial legacy both are suffering from, nation-wise democratization process, racial and religious affairs, promotion of military relations between the two countries, and the extended meetings and cooperation between the troops and security organizations of the two for border region security and peace and stability.
Present at the call together with the Senior General were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in- Chief (Army). The special envoy was accompanied by Ambassador of Bangladesh to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Md Sufiur Rahman, Defence Attaché Brig-Gen Md Mahbubul Haque and officials. After the call, the Senior General presented gifts and posed for documentary photo together with those present at the call.
