Nay Pyi Taw June 21

No perfunctory action will do the job as training is the core of the Tatmadaw and it is the place where skill is nurtured. The Command and General Staff College-CGSC is the highest seat of military course where trainees are being taught to properly command a troop under their control and to accomplish a mission. So, trainees must thoroughly learn their lessons and seriously undergo training sessions and apply them in their practical work, noted Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing during his meeting with senior officer trainees of  CGSC.

Accompanied by Joint Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Khin Aung Myint and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander- in-Chief (Army), the Senior General arrived at CGSC in Kalaw Station this afternoon. He met the officer trainees at Anawrahta Hall.

Concerning the training, the Senior General said it is important to meet the standard procedures. Standard Army is now within our reachable level thanks to the systematic process including the organizational setup, the selection and appointment of the commandant and instructors, the ensuring of a proper ratio between the trainers and trainees, the provision of teaching aids, the conducting of management affairs involving lecture halls, hostels, food and accommodation through general staff, adjutant and quartermaster sections. We have produced competent commanders who after acquiring the military science must adhere to the basic principles and effectively realize them. In battles and in practical field they must concentrate their mind and actions on the course towards victory or success.

As long as they are in the service, they must always carry out the four troop-structuring duties -  training, administration, social welfare and morale. So, they must really understand and do their duties. They must systematically carry out basic military science and military parade which are the foundation of training. Basic military science is an emergency procedure in the face of a life-threatening situation. Military parade is the backbone of obedience and good discipline. Training provides good practices in terms of social ethics. It also supports the Myanmar spirit which in really is the practice of staying in unity produced by the spirit of unity and harmonious actions which starts from individual eagerness. They must always nurture these good practices for their ever troop-structuring duties – training, flourishing.

The administrative sector should have unity and harmony. Thanks to the better administrative system, there will be trust and friendly ties between those from the upper and lower levels. In doing so, it should be in accordance with procedures, regulations and laws. Firstly, Tatmadawmen need to understand and use administrative techniques according to the organizing means. It needs to supervise it in accord with administrative means. Having a thorough understanding of people’s nature, better thoughts and better management would produce fruitful results for administrative sector. There should be accountability and responsibility.

Welfare means Tatmadawmen can manage to survive on salaries they earn. On the one hand, Tatmadawmen themselves should abstain from practices such as alcohol drinking, smoking and betel chewing and stick to thrift. On the other hand, officials are to arrange food and accommodation and provide health, education and social assistance as much as they can. Tatmadaw is providing these basic needs to Tatmadawmen and their families. Leaders on their part should seek the ways to provide welfare services for soldiers and their families.

Regarding good moral character, it needs to create a favourable condition for Tatmadawmen. Having trust in leaders are also important. Efforts are being made to promote education standard of Tatmadawmen. Commanders are to pay attention to education affairs of Tatmadawmen and their family members. At the same time, it needs to carry out systematic management of libraries and promote reading habits. In addition, commanders need to understand works related to general staff, adjutant and quartermaster and abide by procedures, rules and regulations and laws.

Commanders are to share their knowledge with those under their administration. In performing duties, commanders need to have a fatherhood spirit and establish better relations. There should be loyalty to each other. Tatmadawmen should be aware of the fact that may harm others. Tatmadawmen themselves are to make progress through the combination of successful accomplishment of tasks, honesty, relentless efforts and loyalty. And Tatmadawmen are to try to be the ones who can guarantee the safety and tranquillity of their families and other soldiers as well as of the Tatmadaw and the country.
