Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a goodwill visit to Thailand, was welcomed by Gen. Tarnchaiyan Srisuwan, Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces with a Guard of Honour, in front of the latter’s office, yesterday morning.
On arrival at the Office of Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, the Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces introduced senior military officers of the Royal Thai Armed Forces to the Senior General and party.
Also present at the welcoming ceremony together with the Senior General were Lt-Gen Myo Zaw Thein, Lt-Gen Soe Htut and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and Myanmar Military Attaché (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Khin Zaw. The Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces was accompanied by Joint Chief of Staff of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Gen. Ponpipaat Benyasri and senior military officers from the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
After that, the Senior General and the Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces took the salute of the Guard of Honour and inspected it. Then, the Senior General introduced Myanmar senior military officers to the Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces. Afterwards, the Senior General signed the visitors’ book at the Office of Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
After that, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held a talk with Gen. Tarnchaiyan Srisuwan, Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces at the parlour.
At the meeting, they frankly exchanged views on situations of Myanmar and Thailand having common culture, religion and characteristics and existing good neighbouring countries, holding sport contests, exchanging agriculture, medical education and culture and sending trainees between the two armed forces of both countries for promoting friendly relations and plans to further promote them, exchange of goodwill delegations at different levels, progress of Myanmar on the path of multi-party democracy, situation for further promoting friendly ties and cooperation between the two armed forces, and enhancement of cooperation in all arm troops of Army, Navy and Air Force between the two armed forces.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces exchanged commemorative gifts. The Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces hosted a luncheon in honour of the Senior General and party. During the luncheon, the Military Band of the Royal Thai Armed Forces played songs of both countries while students from families of the Royal Thai Armed Forces presented dances depicting narcotic drug eradication.After the ceremony, the Senior General presented cash awards to the Military Band of the Royal Thai Armed Forces and students and had documentary photo taken. After-wards, the Guard of Honour of the Royal Thai Armed Forces saluted the Senior General and the Chief of Defence Force of the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
In the morning, the Senior General, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and party, paid homage to Buddha images at Wat Arun Monastery in Temple of Dawn in Bangkok and offered oil lights. After paying obeisance to Abbot BOON RUNG, the Senior General donated alms and cash for purpose of nine prerequisites and shared merits gained. The Senior General and party paid homage to the pagoda in the compound of the monastery.
