Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation pays visit to Bodh Gaya Park in Gaya, offers Waso robes to monks

On the full moon day of Waso which is the Buddhist Day, the Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is on tour to Gaya in India, paid homage to the Mahabodhi Temple at 5.30 am local standard time today. First, monks led by Abbot Agga Maha Pandita Abhidhaja Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhaddanta Ñaninda of Myanmar monastery consecrated the image of the Buddha-to-be on the upper terrace of the Mahabodhi Temple. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and party, went to the Bodh Gaya Park at 9 am local standard time.

The Senior General and party offered flower, water, oil light and Waso robe to the Buddha Image at the Mahabodhi Temple and then flower, water and oil light to the Image of the Buddha-to-be on the upper terrace of the temple. The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation paid homage to the Mahabodhi Tree and offered gold foils to it in the compound of the temple.

Afterwards, they paid homage to the Buddha Images at the shrine (Ratanaghara Cetiya) at the north-west corner of the Mahabodhi Tree, where the Gotama Buddha sat for deeper meditation for seven days and emanated the rays of light from his body and paid homage to the Buddha Image and fed fish in the Mucalinda Lake. They looked around donations made by well-wishers from around the world at the museum and posed for documentary photos taken in front of Mahabodhi Temple.

Then, the Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation proceeded to the Myanmar monastery in Gaya. First, the Senior General and party took the Five Precepts from Abbot of the monastery Agga Maha Pandita Abhidhaja Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhaddanta Ñaninda. The Sayadaw explained the history of members of the Myanmar Sangha on Buddhist missionary in Bodh Gaya and administered a sermon on Dhammacakka Day.

Next, the Senior General and wife offered Waso robes, cash for nine prerequisites and alms to the Sayadaw. Afterwards, senior military officers donated Waso robes and alms to members of the Sangha residing in Gaya. They then shared merits gained for all donations.

After that, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and members offered day meals to members of the Sangha.
