Historically, Myanmar and China have excellent government-togovernment and military-to-military relations. As good neighbours and friendly countries, both countries must always cement the bilateral goodwill relations. Good opportunities to further enhance mutual trust and cooperation between the two militaries are being realized, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing during his meeting with a goodwill delegation led by member of the Central Military Commission and Chief of the Joint Staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army-PLA General Fang Fenghui at Zeyathiri Parlour here yesterday morning.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and General Fang Fenghui took the salute of the Guard of Honour and then inspected it. Then, the Guard of Honour saluted Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and General Fang Fenghui in quick marchpast.
Then, the bilateral introduction of senior military officers of both sides by the Chinese General and the Senior General followed.
Also present on the occasion together with the Senior General were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chief of the General Staff(Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief. General Fang Fenghui was accompanied by Ambassador of China to Myanmar H.E. Mr.Hong Liang, the Vice Chief of Staff (Army), the Vice Chief of Staff (Navy) and senior military officers of PLA.
After signing the visitors’ book of the Zeyathiri Villa, the Chinese General held talks with the Senior General at the parlour.
First, the Chinese Chief of the Joint Staff discussed the coordination for promotion of friendly relations and cooperation between the two armed forces of the two countries during the goodwill visit of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to the People’s Republic of China and progress of implementation,goodwill visits of war vessels of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army to Myanmar, enhancement of mutual trust in strategic partnership relations due to exchange of goodwill visit of the chiefs of armed forces of the two countries, and serving interest of the two countries, promotion of cooperation in training affairs for improvement of human resources of Tatmadawmen, cooperation in anti-terrorism and prevention of transnational crimes on a wider scale for contributing towards peace and stability of the region, assistance for successfully holding the Union Peace Conference-21st Century Panglong in Myanmar, holding 2+2 meetings between Myanmar and China, close relations in peace and stability of border region of the two countries for enhancement of achieving mutual trust and agreements,holding regular meetings not only at the lower level but also at the strategic level and coordination meetings for emergency issues between the two armed forces so as to avoid disadvantages of bilateral relations, and control of military activities at the border region for benefiting the both sides.
Then, the Senior General expressed thanks for discussions and suggestions of the Chinese General for promoting relations and cooperation between the two armed forces of Myanmar and China. He said coordination and cooperation will be carried for the discussions and suggestions. They cordially discussed enhancement of cementing friendly relations and cooperation between the two armed forces of Myanmar and China, the Tatmadaw’s endeavours for giving priority to ensuring peace based on discussions for ending armed conflicts by adopting the national reconciliation as the political objective, attendance of some NCA non-signatory ethnic armed groups and three ethnic armed groups which have been in armed struggle line since 2012 to the Union Peace Conference-21st Century Panglong as a significant point thanks to the coordination of China, needs of more coordination with those groups, need of those groups to walk on the path of NCA together with the government, the Tatmadaw and NCA signatory ethnic armed organizations, the important role of security, and peace and stability for both strategic partner countries Myanmar and China, and promotion of cooperation in exchange of information, training affairs, exchange of goodwill visits,sending of sports and cultural delegations, anti-terrorism and preparedness of natural disasters between the two armed forces.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the Chinese Chief of the Joint Staff exchanged gifts and posed for documentary photo together with those present.
In the afternoon, the Chinese goodwill delegation led by General Fang Fenghui visited the Memorial to Fallen Heroes in Nay Pyi Taw and laid a wreath there. After saluting the heroes who died in action,the guests signed the visitors’ book.
