Senior General Min Aung Hlaing cordially meets Dr. Ralf Brauksiepe, Parliamentary State Secretary in Federal Ministry of Defence of Germany

The Tatmadaw is trying hard for peace as peace and stability in terms of politics and security is a requirement. Much time is needed in settling armed ethnic conflicts as there are differences in the background and basic factors and the ethnic and political diversity between one group and another, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at his meeting with Dr. Ralf Brauksiepe, Parliamentary State Secretary in Federal Ministry of Defence and Member of Parliament of Germany at Bayintnaung Parlour here at 11 am yesterday.

Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Chief of the General Staff (Army,Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). Dr. Ralf Brauksiepe was accompanied by Ambassador of Germany to Myanmar H.E. Mr.Cristian Ludwig Weber Lortsch and officials.

At the meeting, the Senior General said Myanmar and Germany have been friends for many years, extending closer ties during the time.Germany is providing development aid to Myanmar. A vast array of meetings were held during the recent visit to Germany to enhance military ties and cooperation between the two countries, said the Senior General,explaining the Tatmadaw’s engagement in development undertakings just for national defence and its truthful stance on the democratic reforms and peace process.

The Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defence said that he knew the important role of the Tatmadaw to participate in democratization process of Myanmar.He took pride of the Tatmadaw’s pledge for its firm stand to strengthen the way to democracy. He said he would provide assistance for the Myanmar Tatmadaw to become a Tatmadaw which would have strength and capacity to improve reform process, and democratization and peace processes of the nation.They then exchanged views on promotion of enhancing relations between the armed forces of the two countries, and promotion of practical cooperation matters including training affairs and meetings.

After that, the guest Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defence discussed efforts for reunification of east and west Germany countries with tolerance and successfully holding coordination by taking an adequate time, and reunification of two armed forces with the concept that Germany had only one armed force with curtaining the differences of the past era and asked about the role of Myanmar Tatmadaw.

With regard to the discussions and questions of the guest, the Senior General explained that the Tatmadaw would not derail from the way to democracy. As it needed to have peace and tranquillity on political and security measures,the Tatmadaw had been striving for ensuring peace. The role of the Tatmadaw depended on that situation.After restoring peace, it needed to go on reunification process based on the security measures.
