Handed-over medical vehicles, equipment will directly be beneficial not only to Tatmadaw, but also to public healthcare

In building a Standard Army an efficient and capable Tatmadaw can be created only with qualified human resources. The most basic requirement to reach this end is the health and fitness of every soldier. The medical vehicles and equipment handed over at this ceremony will directly be beneficial not only to the Tatmadaw, but also to the healthcare of the people, noted Commander- in- Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the ceremony at Bayintnaung Villa here this morning where the People’s Liberation Army of China presented medical vehicles and equipment to the Tatmadaw.

Present together with the Senior General were Deputy Commanderin- Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice- Senior General Soe Win and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief. Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Hong Liang, Military Attaché Senior Colonel Wang Jinbo and officials also attended the ceremony.

First, the Senior General and the Chinese ambassador met in the parlour and cordially discussed the promotion of friendship and cooperation between the armed forces of Myanmar and China and exchange of Tatmadaw delegations. 

In his address at the ceremony, the Senior General said whichever political system and administrative structure a country has adopted, the main requirement is to serve the interest of people for their development. As health and education are the foundation to reach this stage, every global country has adopted strategies for promoting health, fitness and education of the entire people. 

National health and fitness concerns with all. As for the Tatmadaw its medical corps is striving with might and for the health and fitness of the entire nation in helping promote the socio-economy of the people and national development. Tatmadaw mobile medical teams and military specialist physicians are being sent to remote areas where transport is poor in extending the healthcare services till reaching the whole country. In addition, the Tatmadaw is participating in the disaster relief missions with manpower, financial power, material power and spiritual power in real time. 

In every step of HADR medical corps is providing healthcare services. The presentation of medical vehicles and equipment is the fruit of military cooperation between the two countries. The entire Myanmar people will enjoy the fruits together with the Tatmadaw.

Next, the Chinese ambassador briefed on the strategic relations and cooperation between China and Myanmar, Chinese aid for Myanmar during last year’s fl oods and the current handover of vehicles and machinery for medical purposes. He then praised Myanmar’s Tatmadaw for providing healthcare services for the people across the country and serving the public interest. The ambassador said he believes China’s handover of those facilities will contribute to the development of Myanmar’s Tatmadaw and the healthcare for the people.

Then, the Chinese military attaché and the director of Defence Services Medical Services signed and exchanged the documents related to the handover of the vehicles and machinery. The director presented a certificate of honour to the military attaché.

Adjutant General Lt-Gen Hsan Oo spoke words of thanks.

The Senior General and party viewed the vehicles and machinery for medical purposes and had a documentary photo taken.

The things donated by China are 30 Ford Transit ambulances, three Mercedes Benz dental clinic vehicles and 15 digital X-ray machines.

Equipped with an automatic closed chest (CPR) system, the Ford Transit can provide treatment for emergency patients with the least number of medical doctors and nurses. The system of ultra violet disinfects the inner part of the ambulance. The Mercedes Benz dental clinic can operate like a hightech dental clinic as it is installed with oral digital imaging system and UV sterile-lamp system. A digital X-ray machine can screen the head and all parts of the body of at least 200 patients a day and produce high-resolution graphic images. (100)
