Nay Pyi Taw April 28

There are many differences between the battlefield which is the place in combating the enemy and the anti-terrorist activity which is carried out at the public places. It is a valuable training ground for the Tatmadaw to provide training on differences so as to turn out the qualified Tatmadawmen, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the skill demonstration of members of the special weapons and tactics-SWAT.

Members of the SWAT showed their brilliant skills at the Defence Services Advanced Training Depot in Nay Pyi Taw this morning. Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Joint Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Khin Aung Myint, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), attended the skill demonstration.

At the briefing hall, the vice chief of the Armed Forces Training reported on the training ground of the SWAT. The Senior General gave instructions on training matters and attended to needs of administration sector.

Members of the SWAT took the position at the training ground and showed their skills in martial arts, individual technical training and teamwise training for improvement of confidence, practical works of shooting and explosion, training of parachuting, mental training, rescuing hostage from urban building, and rescuing hostages from the passenger plane and hijacked plane.

Moreover, the Senior General and party viewed round the buildings in the training ground of SWAT and training sessions of SWAT members with the use of training aid.

In meeting with the members of SWAT who included in the training session, the Senior General said that members of SWAT could show their skills and fitness in the training session to create a new step for the Tatmadaw. They can now take training sessions with full of training aid. Only when each Tatmadawman has health, fitness and confidence, will they have better skills through training. Any serviceman needs health and fi tness to be able to discharge duty. The trainees must take practices of eating nutritious foods for their health and of having the best capability and endurance of body. They have to systematically take training so as to have skills and confidence in line with the mottos: “training to have skills, skills to have confidence, confidence to have bravery and bravery to have victory”. The Tatmadawmen, being fighters with arms, may face heavy sacrifice at any time. As such, they have to take practices to be ready to combat the enemy. Training experiences obtained from the training should be combined with military tactics to be applied in the practical fields. They must use their initiatives in applying the military tactics. In the training sector, the instructors and trainers are to systematically conduct the trainings. The trainees should avoid drinking and abstinence not to degrade their qualification in the training due to their weaknesses. The trainees were urged to uplift the prestige of individual, troop and Tatmadaw and to try hard in training in order to show off capability of the Myanmar Tatmadaw in the international arena.

Next, the Senior General presented cash awards to members of the SWAT.

The training ground of the SWAT was commissioned into service on 8 April 2016.
