Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Min Aung Hlaing received Ambassador United States of America to the Republic of Union of Myanmar H.E. Mr. Derek Mitchell, who had completed his tour of duty, at the parlour of Zeyathiri Beikman of the Yangon Command Headquarters at 1:30 pm yesterday.
At the meeting, the Senior General explained independence and sovereignty of Myanmar and its standing in the history, current situation of the nation, step by step endeavours and participation of the Tatmadaw in implementing the firm reform process of the country which depends on the political situation.
Both sides reviewed friendly relations and cooperation in various matters of two armed forces between Myanmar and the U.S. during the assignment of U.S. Ambassador H.E. Mr. Derek Mitchell in Myanmar. They also cordially discussed promotion of friendly ties and cooperation between two armed forces in the future.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Joint Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy, Air) Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Khin Aung Myint, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Vice-Admiral Tin Aung San and Lt-Gen Mya Tun Oo of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).
The U.S. Ambassador was accompanied by U.S. Military Attaché Colonel James McAden and officials.
