Senior General Min Aung Hlaing observes State Guest House, Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) in Kyoto


Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party visit State Guest House in Kyoto.

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, who is on a working goodwill visit to Japan, accompanied by wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Lt-Gen Soe Htut of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), senior military officers, Myanmar Ambassador to Japan U Thurein Thant Zin and Myanmar Military Attaché (Army,Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Saw Min,visited State Guest House yesterday morning.

The Senior General signed the visitors’ book at the State Guest House. The Myanmar delegation was conducted round by Mr. Atsuhiko Bepu, administrator of the State Guest House about the architecture and interior designs of the State Guest House decorated with a variety of traditional Japanese arts and crafts,systematic construction of meeting halls and guest rooms for heads of State and its environment.

Afterwards, the Senior General presented a commemorative gift to the administrator of the State Guest House. The Senior General and party proceeded to Kinkaku-ji(Golden Pavilion) and were said goodbye by the administrator and staff there.

The State Guest House was built with the purpose of hosting the international level summits and of staying heads of State and guests. It is a building facilitated with modern systems without losing Japanese traditional structures.

Then, the Senior General and party visited Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) where officials conducted them round there.

Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion) is a Zen Buddhist temple built with two tiers, located in the residence of Japanese Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, in northern Kyoto. After the Shogun had died, Kinkaku-ji became the temple of Rinzi Sect.It was famous due to Ginkakuji(Silver Pavilion) built by grandson Ashikaga Yoshimasa. The building was destroyed by fire for many times including two times in the civil war of Japan. The present structure rebuilt in 1955 has been attracting globetrotters.

Then, the Senior General and party left Kyoto station by Shinkansen bullet train at noon and arrived in Tokyo in the afternoon.
