The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing who is on the goodwill visit to Belgium, together with Myanmar Ambassador to Belgium U Paw Lwin Sein, visited the 1815 Memorial, Battle of Waterloo memorial site, in Brussels and Namur in Wallonia region, near Brussels, at 2.45 pm local standard time on 6 November.
Belgium is constituted with Brussels, Wallonia and Flanders regions. Namur is the capital of Wallonia region. Sambre canal crosses the centre of the pleasant Namur and then fl ows into Meuse River which ends at the North Sea through the border of Germany and the Netherlands in the north and at France in the south.
Then, the Senior General and party arrived at the Myanmar Embassy in Brussels where they were welcomed by Myanmar Ambassador to Belgium U Paw Lwin Sein and embassy families.
In meeting with them at the parlour of the embassy, the Senior General stressed the need to strive for promoting friendly ties between armed forces of the two countries. Moreover, he added that only then, will economic growth develop the nation. As such, it needs to further promote trade and investment sectors in order to improve economic sector.
Next, the Senior General presented gifts and foodstuffs to Ambassador U Paw Lwin Sein and wife, and embassy staff. Later, the Senior General and party were hosted a dinner by embassy families.
This is the first trip of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services of Myanmar to Belgium and Europe as well as a historic trip to promote relations with armed forces of Belgium and member countries of the European Union.
