Senior General Min Aung Hlaing comforted flood victims in Pwintphyu and Setoktara townships in Magway Region, and provides relief aids

The Senior General gives foodstuffs to flood victims in Setoktara town.

Commander in Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and party arrived in Pwintphyu town in Magway Region, that was facing floods, from Rakhine State this afternoon, and were welcomed by Region Chief Minister U Hpone Maw Shwe, Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Soe Htut and officials.

After hearing the reports on floods and rescue efforts presented by the Chief Minister, the Senior General explained the cause of floods, relief measures, tree growing and aid provision, assuring best efforts in carrying out relief and rescue undertakings. He also looked into the requirements.

The Senior General then presented a collective donation of K 430 million – K 200 million each by Kanbawza Bank Limited and Gate Way company and K 30 million by Tatmadaw families – and foodstuffs for the flood victims.  He then cordially greeted and comforted the victims individually.

At Setoktara town in the evening, Senior General and party heard a report on the condition of floods in the town. The Senior General comforted the victims and looked into the requirements.

Later, he presented a donation of K 200 million -- K 100 million each by Kanbawza Bank Limited and Gate Way company and foodstuffs and water by Tatmadaw families, and comforted the victims individually.

Due to the swollen Mon creek, Pwintphyu, Setoktara and Ngaphe townships were facing floods. Flood victims totaling 21,207of Pwintphyu township are kept in 20 relief camps, 4106 victims of Setoktara township in 12 relief camps, and 252 victims of Ngaphe township in three relief camps. Officials are providing them with relief aids and health care.

On arrival at Nay Pyi Taw airport at 7:30 pm, the Senior General and party were welcomed at the airport by Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Hla Htay Win, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in- Chief, Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command Maj-Gen Maung Maung Aye, Deputy Head of Indian Military Attaché Office Dr. S. Janakiraman, and Indian Naval Attaché Capt (Navy) Manish Bhandari. 

The delegation members Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, and senior military officers of the Office of the Commanderin- Chief also arrived back on the same flight.
