Hailing Amnesty International’s exposé of terrorist attacks, inhuman mass murders committed by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorist group

The report “Attacks by the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) on Hindus in Northern Rakhine State”released by Amnesty International on 23 May 2018 said that ARSA extremist Bengali terrorist group launched synchronized attacks on about 30 security posts in northern Rakhine State on 25 August 2017 after taking time in making preparations in advance; that the terrorist attacks occurred only a few hours after the release of the final report on Rakhine region by the Advisory Commission on Rakhine State led by former UN chief Kofi Annan; that a large number of Bengali villagers organized by the ARSA took part in the terrorist attacks together with the ARSA; that it is learnt that when Myanmar security forces responded to the terrorist attacks there occurred some human rights violations including extrajudicial killings, rape, sexual violence and intimidation; that about 693,000 Bengalis fled to Bangladesh for that response; that there were also human rights violations when Myanmar military responded to the ARSA’s attacks against police outposts in October 2016; and that founded in 2012, the ARSA organized thousands of people and armed them with small arms and hand-made bombs.

The report also said that the Amnesty International could prove that in August 2017, the ARSA organized thousands of Bengali villagers that was greater than that of the 2016 attack, armed them with knives, spears and various types of other weapons and launched the attacks; and that Bengali villagers also took part in the terrorist attacks together with the ARSA. In September 2017, the Amnesty International interviewed members of the Hindu community arriving in Bangladesh from Myanmar, and Hindu-Bengalis and ethnic races including Rakhines, Khamis, Mros and Thets in Sittway of Rakhine State in April 2018. The report detailed the findings by starting with the inability to find out the complete atrocities committed by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists as access is denied to northern Rakhine State.

According to the findings by Amnesty International, a group of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists arrested 69 Hindus men, women and children from Khamaungseik Village on 25 August 2017. Most of the arrested villagers were murdered and the remaining taken hostage. A total of 53—20 men, 10 women and 23 children, including 14 children under the age of eight—were killed. Only eight women and eight children managed to escape. The report also said the ARSA extremist Bengali terrorist group arrested 46 Bengali men, women and children from a Hindu Village near Yebaukkya Village and they are still missing.When the eight Hindu women arrested by the ARSA extremist Bengali terrorist group arrived in Bangladesh, they were forced to tell false news that the villagers were brutally killed by Rakhine ethnics and a video documentary was released. Likewise, similar false news pieces were broadcast, said Amnesty International.

On 26 August 2017 also, a group of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists brutally killed one man, two women and three children in Myothugyi Village near Maungtaw, the report pointed out.The Tatmadaw welcomes Amnesty International for its impartiality and correct report about the atrocities committed by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists by gathering firm evidence. Regarding the incidents that happened on 28 May 2012, 9 October 2016 and 25 August 2017, the Tatmadaw True News Information Team held press conferences and released news on radio and television and in newspapers on a timely basis. However, news agencies and governments from the West Bloc put pressure on Myanmar’s government and the Tatmadaw by making lopsided accusations without recognizing the true news.In addition to the incidents men-tioned by the Amnesty International, the Tatmadaw True News Information Team has presented deaths of Mro and Khami ethnics in terror attacks of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists and other terrorist attacks of non-ARSA members in individuals or groups during the uprisings due to their rights, committing of killings, robberies and rapes over Bengalis each other, and setting fire to their own houses in three events. So, we would like to urge the Amnesty International to stand for right for continuously exposing the cases that ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists and the Bengalis who triggered the conflicts killed other ethnics and their same people Bengalis.

The Myanmar Tatmadaw ordered security forces to strictly abide by the Rule of Engagement-ROE in deploying the least amount of strength to protect security, lives and property of local ethnic people and to carry out self defence of the security forces as ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists and the Bengali terrorists under their organizational arrangements with the estimated strengths between 6,000 and 10,000 committed attacks with the use of small arms, home-made grenades and heavy arms in the incidents of Buthidaung-Maungtaw region of Rakhine State, and exposed the officers and services who offended crimes with personal acts and took action against them. The information about taking action against them was also released in a transparent manner.

In meeting with envoys from 15 members of the UN Security Council on 30 April 2018, the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services clearly explained the stand and attitude of the Tatmadaw and gave them the documentary photos depicting the true events. Moreover, the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services told them to send firm evidences if security forces including Tatmadawmen committed crimes, and after investigation, if it is true, the Tatmadaw will take action against them. Deterrent action taken against offenders by the Tatmadaw shows its accountability and responsibility. True events of conflicts in crimes committed by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists in Buthidaung-Maungtaw region and the Bengalis committed crimes in the events were clarified with firm evidences by State-owned media and the Tatmadaw True News Information Team at the meetings between the Tatmadaw and international organizations, and firm evidences were presented to attendees. As such, the information was released that international organizations and media are urged to bravely expose true events similar to that of the Amnesty International.

According to the information given on telephone that home-made guns hidden by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists were found in Thetkeipyin (East) Village of Maungtaw Township, Rakhine State, security forces went to the village to inspect it yesterday morning.

They found and seized one home-made launcher with two props, 29 small homemade guns which can open fi re with the use of gunpowder, and two home-made guns without barrels which can open fi re with the use of gunpowder, totalling 32 arms from the pond near the mosque in the village.

These home-made guns are being examined by military personnel who are skillful in arms, and security forces continue searching at the place where the home-made guns were found and its environs.

Two guns and a magazine were found in the backyard of an empty house in Maung-taw Township northern Rakhine State this morning while police and officials were checking the population list. A combined team comprising officials of Immigration Department under police escort found a suspicious soft ground at the backyard of the empty house owned by Abdular Kein son of Maw Khalauk at Myinlut (New Village) while on their mission to check population registration. When they dug up the soft ground, they found one BA-94 and a magazine and one point 38 revolver packed in a bag.

A through check revealed that these are the weapons that were seized from Myinlut police outpost during the synchronized terrorist attack committed by extremist ARSA terrorists on 30 police outposts on 25 August.

Following the coordinated attacks by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists on 30 police outposts and one army unit base in Buthidaung-Maungtaw region, Rakhine State, on 25 August, Tatmadaw columns and border guard police forces started carrying out area clearance operations on the same day as the rule of law and community peace and tranquility were disrupted. As a result, engagements were on the decrease after 5 September.

As the rule of law and regional peace and stability have been restored to a certain extent, some of the Tatmadaw columns carrying out clearance operations will withdraw from Buthidaung-Maungtaw region and will be formed as an auxiliary force in Sittwe.

Security forces, which were discharging duty for ensuring rule of law in Maungtaw Township, Rakhine State, acting on information, arrived at a place with spread soil in the compound of a burnt house in Myazin Village at about 3 pm yesterday. In excavating there, they found two yellow plastic buckets hidden underground for committing explosion and destruction acts by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists. Then, they seized two home-made mines made of four inches in diameter and about six inches in length each, 10 home-made mines made of two inches in diameter and about nine inches in length each, four RE labeled remote sensors and about 125 feet long wires.

The security forces are combing the area around the place where the explosive devices were found.

JE immunization programme to be focused in Rakhine

The administration of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) vaccine will be prioritized in Rakhine State where recent terrorist attacks have made its northern parts volatile and unsafe, according to deputy director-general Dr Than Tun Aung of Public Health Department.

“Even a slightest instability will scare away people from coming for vaccination of JE. So, we need special attention and care for the project. There are 17 townships in Rakhine State, but we may have to leave out the two for security reasons. Nurses and health workers may not dare to visit some places, especially in the northern sector of the state. So, it’s difficult to implement the whole plan without fail,” he said.

The vaccination of JE will be carried out across the country including Rakhine State under two steps. First, the vaccines will be administered at schools in November and, after that, the program will be made in wards and villages in December.

Japanese encephalitis is a potentially fatal viral brain infection for which there is no cure and it mainly affects children aged between fi ve and 13.

Most people infected by the virus have either no symptoms or short-lived mild symptoms similar to infl uenza. In less than one case in every 250, the virus causes serious symptoms, such as seizures, confusion and paralysis.

There have been social problems in Rakhine State since previous times, resulting in low coverage of vaccination. Some children in Rakhine State are left to administer polio vaccines.

The words of bereaved families of Hindus killed by ARSA terrorists

Upon receiving information about the location of dozens of dead Hindus in northern Rakhine State, the bodies of the people allegedly killed by extremist terrorists from the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) were unearthed by security forces near the village of Yebawkya in Maungtaw. Twenty-eight bodies were discovered on Sunday, and 17 more on Monday. The following are the accounts of surviving family members interviewed by Myanmar news Agency reporters at the site in Maungtaw where the bodies were found :

Ronni, Maungtaw Township, Thittonenar Khwa-Sone Village tract, Oh-Htein Village

Among 28 bodies dug firstly is my elder brother, named Hannu. He lived with his family at the village Thittonenar Khwa-Sone village. When examined, I ascertained that it was my own brother, by seeing his frequently-dressed shirt. He visited his daughter at Khamaungseik village to stay for a night. on the day when the terrorist attacks happened, terrorists came to Khamaungseik to abduct Hindus, in which my brother was one of the victims. All were inhumanely killed on the way,

with eight Hindu women and children abducted to Bangladesh. Women were raped. I had a contact with those women. I did not yet know whether my brother’s wife and children have not been accounted and have been killed. We heard most of them killed by terrorists. our village Khamaungseik, where Hindus mostly lived, was surrounded by Bengali villages.

I lived with my family in Maungtaw. My daughter, my parents-in-law and my brother-in-law were among the victims. My daughter lived with my parents-inlaw in Khamaungseik village (south). Dead bodies dug out included corpses of my mother-in-law and brother-in-law. The bodies of my daughter, only 8 years old, and my father-in-law have not been found yet. My spouse has suffered from a mental disorder since the brutal slaughter of the people. All were killed by throat slitting. Some were found to have been decapitated and limbs amputated. We want to find our daughter as soon as possible. I will not stop looking for my daughter even if she is found dead and it is only her skeleton. I pray for my daughter not to experience such a worse situation. Terrorists not only killed Hindus, including the cruel killing of children, but also raped the women.

My husband’s two brothers were among the dead bodies dug up. Their names are Bisnia and Han Montie. Their wives and children were also killed. A mother and her two children and another mother and her three children have not been accounted for. We overheard that one was abducted to Bangladesh. I live now in Kyeinchaung village. My husband’s two brothers earned their living in Khamaungseik as blacksmiths.

My sister, her spouse and her two sons were among the killed. Prior to the event, I fortunately missed being killed as I had been in Thamanthar village. Among the corpses dug out, there was the body of my sister. My sister wore her usual bangles on her wrist. By seeing these, I identified that it was her. The bodies of her husband and her sons have not yet been found.

Among the corpses dug up were my husband and two sons. I could identify them as I well remembered their clothing. On the bodies were cuttings on their throats with limbs amputated. Some legs were almost completely cut. I survived because I had been in Maungtaw at an event. Fifteen of my relatives have not yet been found. Terrorists killed our Hindus in Khamaungseik.

I live in Maungtaw. My two sons and my daughter lived in Khamaungseik. My elder son was married, as was my daughter. one son was still single. My sons were eking out a living as goldsmiths. Yesterday, my two sons were found among the dead bodies dug up yesterday. His daughter and child, including my daughter and her son, were abducted to Bangladesh. over there, our Hindus found them and brought them, it was learnt. I had phone contacts with my daughter and daughter-in-law. It has been learnt that gold from their shop was robbed.

Local-based foreign media in Myanmar and local media gathered news at the place near at Yebaukkya Village in Maungtaw Township in northern Rakhine State where corpses of the Hindus brutally murdered by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists through violent means were unearthed.

The media persons after witnessing the unearthed remains of the brutally murdered Hindus asked more information about the terrible incident. Police Col Okka Ko of Border Police Control Command and U Ni Mawl (the Hindu leader of the aid organization) explained the telephone message about the capture and butchering of Hindus by Bengali terrorists sent by Hindu women who survived after they were forcefully taken to Bangladesh, burying of women and children, and men in separate places after being killed with their necks slashed and continued finding of dead bodies. Then, news media conducted interviews with the bereaved families and relatives.

Next, the reporters arrived in Pandawpyin Village, Maungtaw, where they met the Bengalis from the village and asked about regional situations and occurrence of incidents. They then asked about incidents that happened in Maungtaw region, security operation and problem solving. The Maungtaw District administrator and the director of the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare under the Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army) made the clarifications.

The death toll of civilians by terrorist attacks in northern Rakhine from 9 October to 26 September has reached 163, with 91 still missing, according to data released by authorities yesterday.

Data collection teams started conducting ground surveys on 23 September to determine the losses and damages from the terrorist attacks in northern Rakhine.

From 25 august, the day ARSA extremist terrorists launched attacks to dozens of police posts and civilians, to 26 September, 84 people, including Hindus, ethnic Rakhine, Daingnet and Mro villagers, civil servants and security forces were killed by ARSA terrorists. Fifty-four are still missing, according to the data.

The terrorists attacks from 9 October to 24 august—the day before the latest terrorist attacks—killed 79 people including villagers who are cooperating with authorities, civil servants, security forces, leaving 37 missing.

The main data is collected first and other required data will also be collected, officials said. It is estimated to take a month to complete the work, said U Ye Htut, Deputy Commissioner of Maungtaw District General Administration Department.

More remains of Hindus brutally killed by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists found

Security forces and Hindus found 28 bodies of Hindus who were brutally killed by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists near Yebawkya Village in Maungtaw Township on September 24. Yesterday, they continued their joint search for the remaining bodies of Hindus.

Yesterday afternoon, a suspicious place was found at about 400 meters, northeast of the mass grave where the remains of Hindus were found yesterday. As security forces and Hindus got foul smell, they dug two pits at a distance of 10 feet a pit measuring three feet in diameter and five feet in depth and another pit.

Yesterday, 17 bodies of men were retrieved 14 bodies of men from the first pit and three bodies of men from the second pit. To date, a total of 45 corpses have been discovered.

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye, Rakhine State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu and state cabinet members, members of the National Human Rights Committee, the deputy commander of the military command headquarters and senior military officers inspected the scene and fulfilled the requirements.

Officials of Maungtaw Township Public Health Department are performing necessarily forensic inspections over the excavated Hindu bodies. Those bodies will be cremated in line with the Hindu traditions.

The bodies excavated yesterday were Hindu people from Yebawkya Village, approved by U Shimawtaw of Middle Kyeinchaung Village from Maungtaw Township, U Phyamhawri of Thaman Village and some Hindu people who participated in the searching tasks.

Security forces together with Hindu people continue searching the remaining Hindu bodies around the place.

Security forces found 28 bodies of Hindus who were brutally killed by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists near Yebawkya Village in Maungtaw Township in Rakhine State yesterday.

According to the investigation, Ma Binarbarlar, daughter of U Sway Larm from Yebawkya Village phoned Hindu U Ni Maul, a Hindu social organization leader from the 4th-Mile Village in Maungtaw Township, who is taking shelter in Sittway Township due to terror attacks by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists. In her phone call, Ma Binarbarlar said around 300 ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists holding small arms, sticks, swords and lances entered Yebawkya Village at 9.30 pm on August 25 and arrested around 100 men and women. On arrival at about 1,000 meters, the west of village, terrorists killed almost all men and women brutally. Then, terrorists forced eight women to convert to Islam and took them to Bangladesh.

U Ni Maul informed the security troops in Kyeinchaung Village of Maungtaw Township about the above-mentioned information. Therefore, the security troops together with U Ni Maul and some Hindu people from Khamaungseik and Tamanthar villages went to Yebawkya Village this morning. At about 11 am, they found a suspected ground situation, about 1,200 metres northwest of the village with foul smell. In excavating it, they found two 13 feet square large pits where dead bodies were assumed to be buried and the pits were located about 10 feet in distance between them.

The security troops and Hindu people excavated the pits. They could unearth 12 women bodies from the first pit at 2.20 pm and six bodies of boys under 10 years old, two men bodies and eight women bodies from the second pit at 2.30 pm. They excavated 28 dead bodies in total.

According to the approval of Hindu U Ashikuma from Taung Village in Khamaung-seik Village-tract of Maungtaw Township and U Ni Maul of 4th-MileVillage, who accompanied the security troops, together with other Hindu people, the bodies excavated from the pits were Hindu people from Yebawkya Village.

The security troops continue searching remaining Hindu people around the places of pits.

Six ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists entered Kanyindan Village in Maungtaw Township in Rakhine State at 9.20 am this morning, holding swords and slingshots.

Then, Bengali villagers arrested those terrorists as terrorists brought Arlikhan, 24, son of Nuharsaung along. 

Those six ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists are: Mawgolarmauk, son of Karseim from Nilinbaw village in Yathedaung Township, Husanahmat, son of Mawturahman from lower Nanyar village, Sawyawdullar, son of Eimanhusaung from Barlarmi village, Kayparyardular, son of Yarmauktular from Paukpin village, Bawshiular, son of Nomarmat from Nilinbaw village and Atarhurahman, son of Atarrula from Nilinbaw village.

Four swords and one slingshot were seized from them. Bengali villagers handed over the ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists to security personnel who are carrying out area clearance operations.

About 20 ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists attacked the police outpost with the use of small arms,sticks, swords and spears in Meetaik Village of Maungtaw Township,Rakhine State, at about 10 pm on 3 September. Due to counter-attacks of the security forces, those extremist Bengali terrorists withdrew to the northwest of the village at 10.05 pm.

In the incident, one body of Bengali terrorist was arrested together with one percussion lock firearm, five lead balls, one box of gunpowder, one sword and one torch light.

Likewise, about 30 ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists used homemade guns, sticks, swords and spears in attacking the security troops discharging duty to conduct area clearance operation in Thinbawkway Village of Maungtaw Township at 9 am. As the security personnel carried out counter-attacks, the terrorists retreated from the scene at about 11 am. While retreating from the scene, the terrorists set fire to the village. Therefore, the security troops totally put out the fire at 12.30 pm. In the incident,about 500 houses of the village were reduced to ashes. One body of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorist was arrested together with one home-made gun.

At 2 pm today, the security troops on duty to comb the region unearthed one home-made mine planted by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists,25 feet long wire, one 12 volt battery and one already-exploded homemade mine along the shoulder of central village road near Thinganet Village of Maungtaw Township.

The mine was deactivated.Area clearance operation is being conducted around the scenes and environs.

Local Hindu people from Latha Village in Maungtaw Township informed the local light infantry division headquarters through the Maungtaw Township Administrator this morning that they were threatened by ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists from surrounding Bengali villages through various ways after the terrorist incident which happened in northern part of Rakhine State on 25 August 2017. Therefore, they were impossible to continuously live there as their lives were in critically dangerous situations.

As soon as they received information, the security troops, the township administrator and party went to the village of local Hindu people at 1 pm today and met with townselders. They then moved 444 people from 70 Hindu households to No 2 Basic Education High School in Maungtaw which is a safe place from danger of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists.

Likewise, a total of 199 Hindu people residing in Ward 9 of Ngayantchaung Village of Buthidaung Township were evacuated under escort of security troops to Ward 4 which is a safe place from danger of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists.

After blowing up the bridges with mines, ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists using superior force launched synchronized attacks against 30 police outposts and an army unit headquarters in Buthidaung, Maungtaw and Yathedaung townships in northern Rakhine State with heavy and small arms, home-made mines, sticks, knives and spears beginning early morning on 25 August. Due to the violent attacks of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists, ethnic natives had to leave their ancestral homes and moved to villages that were under the Tatmadaw and police protection and nearby villages. Some of the ethnic natives while on their way were brutally butchered by the terrorists applying inhuman ways without any reason. Moreover, ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists are using various terrorism tactics under well-hatched plots, attacking security forces on duty with superior force, mingling with villagers after running away from security forces in hot pursuit of them, cutting off communication lines, and spreading false information to get outside help.

As ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists were launching violent attacks, there were 90 armed engagements between the security forces and them during the period from 25 to 30 August Two Tatmadaw men, 11 police members and two government staff totaling 15 scarified their lives during the engagements. Five Tatmadaw men and 10 police members were wounded, and one Tatmadaw man went missing. Moreover, the Tatmadaw lost one small weapon, three magazines, 240 bullets and accessories. The police forces lost 10 small weapons, 1,425 rounds of various bullets, 11 grenades and one communications device and seven cars were burnt.

In the terrorist attack on police posts and local army base on 25 August, 38 engagements occurred in which 78 bodies of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists were found and one captured alive. 

Until 30 August, a large number of terrorists carried out 52 waves of attacks on security forces, while shouldering security duties. In those attacks, 370 bodies of terrorists were found and nine others captured alive. Seized together with them were eight small weapons including one .22 gun, 79 rounds of various bullets, 23 mines, 61 swords, 123 jingalis, four communications devices, 15 spears, 27 packages of gunpowder, wires, camouflaged uniforms, WFP-labeled foods and various kinds of medicines.

Due to the attacks of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists, 2,326 local people from 34 villages in Buthidaung Township and 9,402 local people from 43 villages in Maungtaw Township totalling 11,728 were moved to safer places such as monasteries and schools as well as local battalions in 33 villages in Buthidaung and Maungtaw townships where security forces are present. In moving the local ethnic people out to safer places, ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists carried out attacks and as a consequence, seven Hindus, three Daingnet people and four Rakhine people totalling 14 innocent civilians were killed.

Two Daingnet ethnics were injured and two went missing. Moreover, ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists set fire to the houses of local ethnic people who moved to safe places. Therefore, a total of 138 houses in three ethnic villages in Maungtaw Township were reduced to ashes in the fire.

In addition, as ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists set 2,625 houses on fire in 32 villages from Buthidaung, Maungtaw and Yathedaung townships including Koetangauk, Myinlukand Kyeekanbyin villages and two wards in Maungtaw themselves similar to the incidents that they set fire to their houses themselves in Dagyiza, Warpaik and Pyaungpaik villages in October 2016.

The Tatmadaw provided medical treatment to local ethnic people with injuries in the incidents and made arrangements for sending those patients in serious condition by helicopter to the Tatmadaw hospital. The Tatmadaw sent relief supplies and foodstuffs donated by families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and well-wishers from various regions of the nation to the villages where local ethnic people are taking shelter with the use of airplanes and helicopters. Up to 30 August, foodstuffs for about two-week consumption were donated to 9,402 displaced local ethnic people in 22 places. More donations are being made for those people.

The security troops are searching and combating ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists for enabling local ethnic people to resettle their native regions of their ancestors without anxieties and worries and to do their jobs peacefully.

Terrorist training sites found on Mayu mountain ridge in Buthidaung-Maungtaw region

While the security forces acting on information that terrorism courses were conducted on Mayu mountain ridge in Buthidaung-Maungtaw region were launching area clearance operation yesterday, they captured a knife-attacker dead and also seized guns, tents/warehouse, food rations,and other utilities in a tunnel.

Security forces received information about the summoning of villagers at night to attend terrorist courses on Mayu mountain ridge in Buthidaung-Maungtaw region, and they conducted area clearance operation yesterday morning. During the area clearance operations the security forces found suspicious footpaths.So, they made a search around the area found two one-foot long local-made guns,one 9mm bullet, a 20-foot by 10-foot hut, a 40-foot by 10-foot hut, a 40-foot by 30-foot hut, a 20-foot by 10-foot hut, totaling five huts for human accommodation, a package containing 50 tickles of brown gelignite, a package containing about one viss of black gunpowder, five bags of rice, a bag of onion,one viss of potato, 20 units of wooden guns, five chopping hoes, five spades, three pickaxes, two coils of yellow wire (about 400 feet long), two coils of twisted wires (about 20 feet long), one Bushnell binoculars,six cotton blankets, 45 menswear, 45 units of longyis, 20 units of womenswear and 20 units of black hood.

While continuing their area clearance operation, the security forces found a manmade tunnel five feet wide, four feet high and 80 feet long near the hut. When they entered it, a man about 35 years old attacked them with a one foot and six inches long sword.A member of the security force shot him dead in defence.

When the security forces conducted area clearance operation in the tunnel at 3.15 pm today, a terrorist wearing a black hood suddenly appeared from his hiding place and attacked them. The security forces have to shoot him back, and he died on the spot.When they reached the end point of the cave, one of them stumbled on the head of a terrorist who covered his body with earth.As the terrorist tried to attack them, they shot him dead.

In connection with the case, security forces are continuing area clearance operation.

Clandestine terrorist acts are being committed turning a blind eye to the State’s efforts to ensure community peace and tranquility, the rule of law and peaceful living conditions of the people in Maungtaw region.

Four people including Gu Mu Shu, 19,who attended the terrorism course in Maunggyitaung Village were arrested together with 13 home-made guns and accessories in the afternoon on 4 January 2017; terrorist trainee Mawlawi Adulamein together with four huts and personal goods in the valley near Tinmay Village in Buthidaung Township on 7 March;gunpowder, sulphur and accessories used for home-made mine and personal goods after an explosion occurred at the edge of the jungle in the north to Theni Village, Buthidaung Township on 4 May killing two including Noe Ar Laung, 25; three home-made guns with 1.5 feet in length and bullets from Mahmud Shaw Phi’s house compound in Thawunchaung Village in Maungtaw on 26 May morning; and one payslip proving that 20 people had been paid their salaries on 1 May. On 29 May also, two masked persons including Adu Raman, 27, who completed a terrorism course, were arrested when they were hiding in the bushes near Layyinkwin Village and Layyinkwin Creek in Maungtaw Township on 29 May. After investigation, it was known that 12 people including the leader of a radical religious group were attempting to murder a head of ten-house group and head of 100-house group. They were giving military training and teaching martial art at the house of Gyaw Di Husaung, who lived in the same village. Moreover, they organized the villagers to join the terrorism course. The hard-core young villagers received a five-month training and each of them was paid Ks-200,000 monthly. Course instructor Harbad Martarlar was financially backed by some foreign countries. Forty walkie-talkies and accessories were seized from a home in North Chaung Kula Village on 31 May and Kardilhusaung, 30, who completed the terrorism course, was arrested at Thaykan Village in Buthidaung Township on 15 June and questioned.

After investigation, it was known that he was prisoned for seven years for involvement in a robbery of the house of Di Mamauk,chairman of Latwedatpyinshay Village in December 2012. He was released from Buthidaung Prison on 2 October 2016. A group of five persons including Noramauk, son of Aliabaw from Kyaukhlapyin Village and himself together with other persons totalling about 100 attended the terrorism course on the 200-square-foot ground in front of about 110 feet wide tunnel dug at the middle of hillside on the back of Mount Meru from 2 April to 14 May 2017. Mawlawi Illias as trainer from Handet Village of Maungtaw Township gave training on Karatedo attacks and shooting of small arms (with the use of sticks instead of guns) to about 100 trainees.The training session lasted from 6 am to 9 am and from 3 pm to 5 pm. At the concluding ceremony, the trainees took oath to keep secret over terrorist course by holding the Koran. 

Mawlawi Illias instructed them to move in the jungle and continue further course in Bangladesh. As a group of five persons including Mawlawi Illias asked permission to visit families in the village,they were ordered to recruit new members from the village and take Ks-50,000 each on their return. While in the village, they persuaded youths to attend the terrorist course but they were arrested without having recruits.

The security troops, acting on a tip-off,combed Kyungaung Village at about 1 am on 20 June. The troops arrested financial in-charge of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army-ARSA Mawlawi Jiraburahman at his home and put him under investigation.Reportedly, Aqua Mul Mujahidin-AMM committed the terrorist attacks in October 2016. Moreover, there was Rohingya National Security Committee-RNSA. Both groups were combined as Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army-ARSA as of 15 March 2017.Military In-charge is Havitdhuha from Aqua Mul Mujahidin-AMM.

They killed 34 innocent people including heads of 10-house group and 100-house group of villages and the librarian in various ways and means and arrested and took 22 innocent people with the aim of controlling Maungtaw region with threatening through terrorist acts.
