Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing welcomed Chief of General Staff Department of the Lao People’s Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Souvone LEUANGBOUNMY with a Guard of Honour in front of the Zeyathiri Beikman, here, yesterday morning.
First, the Senior General and the Lao’s Chief of General Staff Department took the salute of the Guard of Honour and inspected it. Then, they introduced senior military officers from the both countries each other.
Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Tin Aung San, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Lao’s Chief of General Staff Department was accompanied by Laotian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Lyying SAYAXANG, senior military officers of the Lao People’s Armed Forces and the Military Attaché of Laos to Myanmar.
After that, the Lao’s Chief of General Staff Department signed the visitors’ book of Zeyathiri Beikman and held a meeting with the Senior General at the Parlour.
At the meeting, the Senior General said Myanmar and Laos are good neighbours and old friends as well as good friends. The both countries have same culture, religion and traditions. As the ethnics residing at the border region are the same, the both countries are like brothers. Leaders of the both countries have been enhancing friendly relations for many years with exchange of goodwill visits. At present, sports contingents and cultural troupes are sent mutually for enhancement of friendly ties between the two armed forces.
The Lao’s Chief of General Staff Department expressed his delight in grasping his opportunities to pay visit to Myanmar at the invitation of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. He said he saw progress of Myanmar. The both countries are good neighbours in fine traditions with the stable and peaceful border region. Friendly relations are improving between the two armed forces of the both countries and he arrived in Myanmar to further promote their amicable relations. He confirmed that Laos supports peace and development process of the Myanmar Tatmadaw for the State and the people. He expressed thanks for assistance of Myanmar for Laos.
They frankly exchanged views on exchange of training and medical techniques and cooperation in these sectors, further cooperation in the future, exchange of goodwill delegations at different levels of the two armed forces, bilateral sending of sports contingents and cultural troupes, and cooperation in border region development between the two armed forces of the two countries.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the Lao’s Chief of General Staff Department exchanged commemorative gifts and posed for documentary photo together with those present.
