ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists attacked some Daingnet ethnics, who had moved from Yankarzedi Village in Maungtaw Township, Rakhine State, with sticks and swords near Kyaungdoe Village, and only one man named U Maung Ba Sein managed to escape. After he had informed Aungthabyay regional police station about the attack, security forces went to the scene and started operation on the morning of 27 August. At 12.45 pm, Ma Oo Khin, an ethnic Daingnet, was found with slashes in her neck, ears and head at her home in Yankarzedi Village. After receiving first-aid, she was sent to Aungthabyay regional police station for medical treatment.

The victim said that 22 Daingnet people along with 30 heads of cattle, while heading for Wailataung Village at 12 noon on 26 August, faced with about 100 ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists and were attacked with sticks and swords. She said her two-year-old daughter was slashed to death. Some managed to escape while some were killed. With injures, she said, she had to run towards Yankarzedi Village.

At 9.30 am on 27 August, a total of 10 men and seven women, totalling 17 who fled away due to attacks of ARSA extremist Bengali terrorists arrived at Aungthabyay region police camp but five ethnics went missing.

While searching the missing Daingnet ethnics, the security troops found a soil mound at the foot of hill, southeast of Kyaungdoe Village, at about 6 pm on 28 August. They unearthed it and found three remains with injuries of swords.

According to the approval of Daingnet ethnics, those remains were identified as Ma Kan Thi, her two years old daughter Ma Khin Nu, and Ma Oo Khin’s daughter two years old Ma Hla Thar Nu from Yankarzedi Village.

The medical officer from the security troops conducted forensic examinations at the remains and opened files of lawsuit under the law. The security troops are searching the remaining missing two ethnics.
