Senior General Min Aung Hlaing pays homage to remains of Shwegyin Sangharaja,views venue for holding final rites ceremony

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing supplicates on religious affairs to Sitagu Sayadaw.

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Commanderin- Chief (Air) General Khin Aung Myint, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Win Bo Shein and officials, went to new Maha Withokdayon Monastery in Mahaaungmye Township, Mandalay, this evening and paid homage to the remains of State Ovadacariya, 13th Shwegyin Sangharaja Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru, Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhammajotika Bhaddanta Aggiya.

First, the Senior General and party paid obeisance to the remains of the Sayadaw at Aungmyethazi Therathana Monastery. Then, they paid homage to Chancellor of Sitagu International Buddhist Academies Abhidhaja Maha  Rattha Guru, Shwegyin Nikaya Upaukkatha Sitagu Sayadaw Dr Bhaddanta Ñanissara and supplicated on religious affairs and preparations for holdingthe final rites of the Sayadaw. Next, the Senior General and party presented cash donation for the ceremony to Chief Minister of Mandalay Region Dr Zaw Myint Maung. The Senior General discussed matters related to the holding of the final rites with officials. He then signed the book of condolences for the demise of the Shwegyin Sangharaja Waso Sayadaw, who had strived for the propagation of the Sasana throughout his life.

Afterwards, the Senior General and party went to the Shwe Mann Taung sports ground in Upoktaw Ward, Aungmyaythazan Township, where the final rites will be held, and viewed round preparatory work at the cremation chamber and pavilions where members of the Sangha and mourners will be accommodated. He then attended to the needs.
