Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win inspected the Central Model Camp of Multiple Farm of the North-East Command and crops and breeding farms of battalions and units this morning and met with officers, other ranks and families of local units of Lashio Station in the afternoon.

The Vice-Senior General and party arrived at the Central Model Camp and heard a report on cultivation and breeding works presented by an official. In response, the Vice-Senior General spoke of the need to successfully grow and raise quality strains that are suitable to the region, to distribute quality products and mixed feedstuff of the command HQ to battalions and units at the prices lower than the market price, to provide the families with fresh and nutritious meat, fish, eggs and vegetables and to sell the surplus to the government departments and local people and to extend pedigree cattle breeding.

At the Central Model Camp, the Vice-Senior General and party inspected Ngwehnin mushroom cultivation, chicken farm, chicken feed mixer, pedigree pig farm, pig breeding camp, alternate fuel manufacturing factory, dairy cow farm, and modern egg hatcher. Officials explained salient points. The Vice-Senior General and party then inspected the crops and farms of Supply and Transport unit and education school.

In the afternoon, the Vice-Senior General, accompanied by wife Daw Than Than Nwe and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, met the commander of North-East Command, officers, other ranks and families of Lashio Station at the command HQ.

The Vice-Senior General gave instructions on matters to be followed for national defence and security, strengthening of combat skills and power necessary in building the Tatmadaw into a standard army, promoting of the education of Tatmadawmen, maintaining of military strength, health affairs, rules of engagement in military operations and Geneva Convention, efforts to build military units on which the state and the people can rely by further consolidating unity within the Tatmadaw, welfare tasks of the Tatmadaw and implementation of agricultural and livestock breeding tasks in accord with the policy on living conditions of Tatmadaw families.

Next, the Vice-Senior asked about welfare tasks of Tatmadaw families, requirements, and difficulties of individual soldiers and their wives and attended to the needs. After the meeting, the Vice-Senior General presented foods to the officers, other ranks and their families from the station and his wife Daw Than Than Nwe cash donations for nutritious foods for the health and intelligence of nursery schoolchildren. Officials accepted the donations. Lt-Gen Than Tun Oo and Lt-Gen Aung Kyaw Zaw presented publications, foods and sports equipment.

Then, the Vice-Senior General and party cordially greeted the officers and other ranks from the station and their families. The Vice-Senior General and party went to the defence service hospital in Lashio. They encouraged the officers and other ranks who sustained injuries in discharging national defence duties and inspected medical treatment and progress in their health and presented gifts to them.

The Vice-Senior General and party proceeded to Thiri Mingalar Manhsu Shan Monastery in Lashio. They then paid homage and offered flowers, water, oil lights and gold foils to the Hsutaungpyae Maha Myatmuni image made of bamboo strips.Later, the Vice-Senior General and party paid homage to the presiding Sayadaw of the monastery Agga Maha Sadhamma Jotikadhaja Bhaddanta Ponna Nanda and received the Five Precepts. Robes and alms were offered to the Sayadaw.
