Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives Chief of the Army Staff of Indian Army of Indian Armed Forces

The Tatmadaw is steadfastly performing political reform processes while discharging State defence duties. As such, the Tatmadaw sets aims to stabilize political reform processes and builds a Standard Army which will have State defence capacity, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at his meeting with Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army of the Indian Armed Forces General Bipin Rawat at the parlour of Zeyathiri Villa, here, at 10.40 am yesterday.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Mya Tun Oo and senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army). The Indian General was accompanied by senior military officers from the Indian Army of the Indian Armed Forces, Ambassador of India to Myanmar H.E.Mr. Vikram Misri, Indian Defence Attaché Colonel Naveen Mahajan and officials.

At the meeting, the Senior General discussed Myanmar and India had been in same background histories of good neighbouring countries.Leaders of the two countries had been further strengthening friendly relations continuously. The Look East and At East Policies helped India further promote opportunities for cooperation with its friend countries and also benefit the countries which carried out mutual cooperation with India. The Senior General thanked the Indian Armed Forces for its assistance given to the Myanmar Tatmadaw and expressed the plan to continuously cooperate with the Indian Armed Forces.

Next, the Indian General said India placed emphasis on neighbouring countries. According to the At East Policy, he said that he prioritized his visit to Myanmar, closely located in east of India. Peace and stability were being carried out between India and neighbouring countries. He expressed his recognition for ongoing internal peace process of Myanmar. The Indian General said India would promote cooperation in ensuring peace and stability and development tasks in border region between the two countries.

After that, they cordially discussed undertaking peace process in Myanmar and the stand of the Tatmadaw for peace and stability of the country, promotion of cooperation in exchange of goodwill visits, training affairs, sports and medical affairs of the armed forces for enhancing relations between the two armed forces of the two countries, and further cooperation in security measures, peace and stability, and development in border region between the two countries.

After the meeting, the Senior General and the Indian General exchanged gifts and posed for documentary photo together with those present.
