KIA, TNLA group destroys bridge, shoot at Tatmataw aid convoy


The bridge destroyed by KIA and TNLA near Muse.

An armed group comprising members of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army(TNLA) destroyed a bridge near the village of Sonlone in Muse at about 3:30 am on Tuesday and attacked an aid convoy of government troops, according to the Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.

A convoy of government troops delivering provisions for troops providing security duty to ensure peace and stability in the area was fired upon by the combined KIA,TNLA group, who then detonated a mine to destroy the bridge near the village of Sonlone. Government troops returned fire, causing the KIA/ TNLA group to retreat at about 6:10 am, it was learnt.

` In the attack, an RPG firearm, a bomb, one M 22 magazine and 30 M22 bullets were seized. One of the KIA/TNLA troops was injured. The floor and railing of the bridge were destroyed, it is learnt. 

The government troops are in pursuit of the armed group, it is learnt.
