Senior General Min Aung Hlaing receives US Ambassador

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received US Ambassador to Myanmar H.E.Mr. Scot Marciel at Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.

The Senior General explained the political process of Myanmar since independence; and the stance of the Tatmadaw regarding national affairs in the transition period and in the time of second government of the current multi-party democracy era; and the stance and cooperation of the Tatmadaw in efforts to build lasting peace and ending ethnic armed conflicts which erupted on political, racial and religious ground; foreign policy of Myanmar and its international relations; and opportunities for promotion of cooperation between defence forces of Myanmar and the US based on mutual trust.

The ambassador made inquiries for his knowledge and exchanged frank views with the Senior General on opportunities for strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation during his tenure in Myanmar.

Also present at the call were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in- Chief (Army) Vice - Senior General Soe Win and Lt-Gen Mya Tun Oo of Commander-in-Chief Office (Army). The US Ambassador was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Mission Ms Kristen Bauer and Defence Attaché Colonel James McAden. After the meeting, the two sides posed for documentary photo. (100)
