Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation attends closing ceremony of MILEX-2018

Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and the Tatmadaw delegation,who are in the Republic of India, left the hotel where they were staying, at 8 am local standard time on 16 September,by car and arrived at Pune Airbase from where they left by helicopter and arrived at No. 330 Infantry Brigade, the venue of the MILEX-2018, to attend the closing ceremony of MILEX-2018.

Vice-Senior General Soe Win and delegation were welcomed by General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command of Indian Army Lieutenant General Dewan Rabindranath Soni.A training official explained Exercise Tiger Strike, a part of MILEX-2018. The Myanmar delegation then watched the demonstration of troops.

The delegation then viewed the weapons and defence equipment exhibited by Defence Research and Development Organization(DRDO) and companies, and posed for documentary photos together with Deputy Indian Defence Minister Dr Subhash Bhamare, Secretary-General of BIMSTEC Secretariat Mr Sumith Narkandala, and the army chiefs of the BIMSTEC member countries.

Next, the Myanmar Tatmadaw delegation led by the Vice-Senior General attended a military parade to mark the closing of MILEX-2018 and encouraged some BIMSTEC troops who participated in the parade.The Vice-Senior General and delegation met and cordially greeted two cadets from Myanmar Tatmadaw studying at the National Defence Academy of India.

The armed forces from BIMSTEC member countries such as Bhutan, Bangladesh,Sri Lanka, Myanmar and India sent troops and observers to participate in MILEX-2018. The Royal Thai Army and Nepal also sent observers.

In the afternoon,Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife attended a luncheon hosted by General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command of Indian Army Lieytenant General Dewan Rabindranath Soni and wife at the Polo Vista of their residence.In the evening,the Vice-Senior General and party met with trainees from Myanmar Tatmadaw attending a training course in Pune.The Vice-Senior General urged the trainees to study hard so they can apply the subjects they are taught in the interest of their own country and Tatmadaw.
