Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visits Military Historical Museum, tours Berlin

The Myanmar Tatmadaw goodwill delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, currently on an official goodwill visit in Germany, went to the Military Historical Museum in Gatow region,Berlin, at 2 pm local standard time yesterday. They were welcomed and conducted round there by the in-charge of the museum and officials.

Located in the airfield of the old Gatow Royal Air Force, the Military Historical Museum showcases the military aircrafts used in World War I and II, the fighter planes,helicopters and reconnaissance planes used by the air forces of East Germany and West Germany in the successive eras and German military historical data.

Next, the goodwill delegation led by the Senior General made a sightseeing tour of Berlin at 4 pm local standard time. They visited significant tourist sites such as the Berlin Wall, Check Point Charlie and Brandenburger Tor.

The Berlin Wall was a guarded concrete barrier between East Germany and West Germany for about a quarter of century from 13 August 1961 to 9 November 1989 after the Second World War.Checkpoint Charlie was a crossing point of the Berlin Wall between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War (1947–1991). It is located to the west of the Berlin Wall. It was also a check point where the US and the Allies troops conducted checks on those coming from East Germany. Brandenburger Tor is located in the western part of the city centre of Berlin. It was commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace from 1788 to 1791. Having suffered considerable damage in World War II, the Brandenburger Tor was restored from 2000 to 2002. It is a site blessed with many historical events.
